Ring of Kerry; Ireland's world famed Touring circuit. Enjoy the wonderful scenery from Kenmare to Molls Gap and Ladies View with stops at Torc Waterfall and Muckross House. Then travel through Killarney to Killorglin and onto Caherciveen, birthplace of Daniel O Connell. Lunchstop is generally in Caherciveen where there are options of visiting QC's seafood restaurant, the Bonnai Bui bar or O'Neills, at Renard Point just before we take the ferry to historic Valentia Island invaded by the Vikings in the 10th/11th century and drive to the Slate Quarry with its Marian Grotto and outstanding views of Dingle Bay and the Blaskets. Then visit the landing point of the Transatlantic Cable in 1856, which opened up communications between North America and Europe and from where we have an outstanding view of the Ancient Monastic and U.N.E.S.C.O World Heritage Site, Skellig Islands also set to feature in the new Star Wars movie. Driving through Portmagee on to the Skellig Loop via Coom an Easpig and return to Waterville with a visit to Staigue Fort en route to Sneem and returning along the Wild Atlantic Way coast to Kenmare.
An alternative route avoiding coach traffic travels from Molls Gap into the Black Valley and west towards Lough Brin to the land roamed by the Fianna in the 3rd century. From there we travel towards Blackwater and after a short trip along the main road we travel through the hills valleys and glens of Kerry over Bealaghbeama and BealaghOisin with outstanding inland scenery and certainly the route less travelled. Driving towards Caherciveen we then pick up the Ring of Kerry near Daniel O Connell, the Liberators birthplace at Carhan. An ideal mix of rugged hills and glens followed by amazing coastal scenery.
